Taking CIMZIA the Right Way

Understanding how to take CIMZIA correctly can help with reaching your treatment goals. Enrolling in CIMplicity®* can help you stick with it.

The importance of starter dosing

Starter dosing is the first month of injections and is recommended for treatment of psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn’s disease, or non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis. Basically, starter dosing helps get you to optimal medication levels from the beginning. Watch the video to help break it down.

Maintenance Dosing

For people with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis

After you complete your starter dosing phase, there are 2 maintenance dosing options:

  • One 200-mg injection taken every 2 weeks (14 days) or
  • Two 200-mg injections taken every 4 weeks (28 days)

When administering 2 injections, be sure to inject both syringes, one right after another.

For people with moderate-to-severe Crohn’s disease

After you complete your starter dosing phase, maintenance doses are 400 mg, given under the skin as 2 separate injections of 200 mg each.

These doses are taken every 4 weeks (or 28 days). That’s just once a month!

When administering 2 injections, be sure to inject both syringes, one right after another. See the injection instructions for a step-by-step breakdown.

For people with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis

Your maintenance dosing schedule is 400 mg (given as 2 subcutaneous injections of 200 mg each) every other week, which will be the same as your starter dose. When administering 2 injections, be sure to inject both syringes, one right after another.

If you weigh 198 lbs or less, your dermatologist may suggest an alternate dose.
