Anti-TNF Treatments

In people with Crohn's disease, the immune system produces too much of a protein called TNF-alpha (tumor necrosis factor-alpha). TNF-alpha triggers inflammation, which can lead to inconvenient, and often painful, symptoms and damage to your gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Some medications used to treat the symptoms of moderate to severe Crohn's disease are called biologics. Anti-TNFs are a type of biologic that target TNF-alpha and block it from causing inflammation in your GI tract.
